MIND. BODY. GLAM. – Check out my blog!

You are not defeated when you lose. You are defeated when you quit.” – Paulo Coelho

Hi loves! Welcome to MIND. BODY. GLAM.! My name is Kristin (pronounced Kristine) and I am very excited to share my journey of soul healing via my blog – MIND. BODY. GLAM. This is a positive space for me to share life as a mommy, business owner, makeup artist, MBA grad student, researcher in academic medicine… and everything in between.

There is no better time like the PRESENT to start writing my blog. The concept for MIND.BODY.GLAM. came to fruition after I had my little one, Jules, in 2013. During a time when I thought I was supposed to be glowing and feeling happy, I was overcome with intense anxiety that infiltrated every aspect of my life — for the first year and a half of my daughter’s life. Since then, I have been on a journey of self-discovery and healing. I’ve shared my experiences with my friends and acquaintances, with and without little ones, to acknowledge that post-partum symptoms are REAL. It is both comforting and a bit shocking when your girlfriend acknowledges that she experienced post-partum depression and/or anxiety, too. Every story is unique.

I spent many months in denial. When sh*t hit the fan, I knew that I had to take care of myself. Though I struggled with my ego’s stubborn views about seeking professional help, I courageously sought therapy for my post-partum anxiety; I wanted to be the best version of myself for Jules.

Awareness was the first step in my journey to healing. Reprogramming my mind-body connection through running and seeking guidance and support from friends and medical professionals (i.e., via talk therapy) was the next step. And last, but most important IMO, unwavering devotion to be compassionate towards myself and my loved ones.

Lesson: Stop sprinting to that damn imaginary finish line (i.e., perfect life, family, career, relationship, etc.) …enjoy the journey! Be grateful and stay present!
